Looking for something different to do in Bocas del Toro? Try outrigger canoe paddling with Club Remo Caribe, the island’s va’a club. The club launches from Playa Istmito, about a 5-minute walk from Saigon Bay Bed and Breakfast, so you can be on the water in no time. No experience is needed, and all the equipment is provided.
Paddle a V6 with a crew
The V6 is the classic six-person Polynesian outrigger canoe, and it’s the most popular option for visitors. You paddle in rhythm with the crew while an experienced club member steers, so you can simply enjoy the bay. Visitors join a V6 outing for $15 per session. Regular outings go out Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6am and 4pm.
Sunrise and sunset paddles
Club members head out for sunrise and sunset paddles throughout the week, organized in the club’s WhatsApp group. Message the club and they’ll add you to the group. You’ll see when people are going out, and you can sign yourself up for the paddles that fit your stay.
First time? Start with the $5 intro
New paddlers start with the Introduction to the Canoe, offered on Saturdays at 7:00am, 9:30am and 4:00pm. It covers the basics of technique and water safety, and then you’re ready to join the crew outings.
