Restaurante Tom is a local favorite on the second floor of the Municipal Market building in Bocas Town, Bocas del Toro, overlooking the sea and the sailboats on the north side of town. The breeze is cool, the views are great and the prices are some of the most budget-friendly in town.
This is the place for an authentic Bocatorian seafood lunch. The standout is pescado escabeche, red snapper in a zesty mustard, vinegar and onion sauce, served with coconut rice, beans, salad and plantains. Whole fried fish, octopus and lobster are also on the menu. It is busy at lunchtime with locals and travelers alike, which is always a good sign. For value and flavor, it is one of the best local restaurants in Bocas del Toro.
Restaurante Tom is open Mon to Fri from 10am to 6pm, and closed on weekends. Come at lunchtime for the freshest catch.
